moles have teeth

Back to my previously announced "catch-up" on our spring and summer adventures
And this is one we just couldn't leave out
I'll let the photos (mostly) tell the story...

here is the mole all happy and sweet

here are the hands disturbing his dig

here are the children gathered around

to watch poor Mr. Mole fumble about

in a box where he did not wish to be

and what I did not capture with photos
were the "oohs" and "aahs" over Mr. Mole's beautifully silky coat
and his amazingly strong body
that grew tired of little hands and unclimbable/undiggable cardboard
and the girl's finger with 2 tiny holes
made by a frustrated Mr. Mole

of course Mama made a quick trip inside to inspect and disinfect those tiny holes
and make a speedy call to Dr. Amy
who immediately came to the phone
laughed a bit
and assured us it was "probably" nothing
but glad we just happened to be coming in tomorrow
for a check-up

next day we had many looks, smiles and recognition as the "mole family"
and after Dr. Amy again assured
that all was well
she grinned and mentioned that we were the dinner topic
at her home last night
and we made history as the first mole bite
in her long pediatric career

moral:  Never for a second believe that your scholarly, upright, ladylike
14 year old daughter
isn't capable of mole hunting.

the end
